What happened to OpenAthens?

The Library Network Office is transitioning from OpenAthens to LibLynx for remote access to library resources.

When do I need to use LibLynx to access library resources?

You will need to use LibLynx to get access to subscriptions that are purchased by the VISN or medical center library AND national subscriptions when you are working off the VA network from your personal computer or device. You will also need to use LibLynx to get access to subscriptions that are purchased by the VISN or medical center library if you are on VPN or Citrix. Always try LibLynx if you are unable to get access to a resource.

Will my OpenAthens account be automatically converted to a LibLynx account?

Current OpenAthens account users will receive instructions via email on how to transfer their OpenAthens access to their new LibLynx account.
